Secret Christmas Eve Wedding on their Grandparents’ Anniversary

Both their grandparents were married on Christmas Eve (what are the chances!?) so when they pushed their big wedding back to later this summer, Millie and Ian decided to carry on the family tradition and have a secret festive elopement. It was also the two year anniversary of their engagement so really, the date felt pretty perfect.

An Intimate, Music Lovers Wedding with a Rose Gold Sequin Dress

Amy and Craig are probably the only couple last year to actually choose to get married in the craziness of 2020! “It seems mad but we only got engaged in July on my 30th birthday,” Amy told us. “We figured the year had already been crazy enough, so why not get married too?! It’s obviously very different deciding to plan a wedding in a pandemic, as opposed to being forced into changing wedding plans. But it meant we went into this knowing things would likely chop and change and we knew we’d be happy with whatever we could do, however that looked; we just wanted to end the year as husband and wife.”

Why You Should Have an Eco-Friendly, Intimate Outdoor Ceremony

With COVID-related restrictions still very much up in the air and the weather finally getting warmer, many 2021 couples are choosing to elope outside. Today, photographers Jo and Patrick of Enchanted Bride have some top tips and things for you to think about if you’d like to follow suit!

An outdoor intimate wedding or elopement is the perfect choice right now because it is safe, sustainable, eco-friendly and kind to our planet. All you need is love, a sense of adventure, and maybe some good hiking boots. As well as keeping the planet smiling, your bank balance will thank you too as there won’t be expensive venue hire costs to contend with AND your pictures will be incredible – I mean, what’s not to love?

Since the pandemic, couples are realising there are many more options available to them and are focusing more on what is important. The great thing about having an outdoor wedding is it is easy to be flexible, it’s COVID safe andis much easier to reschedule.

Goth Lovers Sunset Mountaintop Elopement

Like a lot of couples last year, Dacey and Josh decided to push their large celebration until it was safe for everyone, but as they really wanted to get married on Halloween, they decided to elope with just their wedding party instead. “We really wanted to get married on Halloween as it was the first one with Blue Moon in around 70 years. It upset some family, but it also meant I was able to have my best friend with me before she moved abroad,” the bride told us. “In the end we knew we made the right choice.”

Part of our mission statement here at Rock n Roll Bride is to inspire couples to plan the wedding that they really want, in an industry that’s dictated around tradition – an industry that does its’ utmost to convince you that to get married you need to have the expensive dress, the biggest cake, the most raucous party. Ibiza Club Night Themed Dublin Wedding

Gary and Louise met while working the Ibiza club circuit in 2014, so there was only one theme their wedding could be! It took the pair three long years to choose the right venue, but Gary noted it was worth taking the time to make every decision about their day perfect. “We had spent a long time looking at venues and choosing the right one. We had almost given up by the time we found it, but it turned out to be the perfect location for us. It’s not worth making compromises on anything.”
